Gay Nightclub in Berlin “Gayhane” Place For Gay Muslims
In Kreuzberg, Berlin a nightclub called SO36 is renamed every month to “Gayhane”.
From the word Gay and ‘Hane’, the Turkish word for ‘home’, this location becomes a place where gay Muslims can meet and dance.
The German capital has a large Muslim population, and as such, some of the the gay SO36 patrons worry that they may be identified, and ostracized from their families.
Whilst it sucks that these people can’t be completely at ease, I can’t help but think these patrons should give a thought to those in Muslim countries who could never have this sort of freedom if gay.
Iran still hangs boys for Homosexuality, and in the public streets - Nice place.
