Iran and Russia Strengthening Ties With Nuclear Fuel Talks

Despite Iran openly rejecting the offer from Moscow for Russia to produce enriched uranium for fuel, Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani, said Tehran is willing to discuss having some nuclear fuel created outside the country.

Whilst Iran and Russia have close economic ties, Larijani has made it clear to Moscow that Iran intends to be self supportive in terms of making nuclear fuel.

The offer from Moscow to enrich uranium in Russia for nuclear fuel and have it sent to Iran was backed by the United States and by Britain, France, and Germany.

Notwithstanding the fact that Iran is likely to have nuclear weapons capability within the next decade (according to CIA), I can’t see any advantage for the world in helping the Iranians achieve their goal sooner.

Let us not forget that new President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad made an open statement in October 2005 saying “Israel must be wiped off the map

This latest offer from Russia fuels further speculation as to the perceived Russian anti-Israel sentiment.
