Stevie Ray Vaughan Texas Flood Album
After being given the Stevie Ray Vaughan Album, Texas flood and being told, “you must listen to this dude” I sat and listened (and tried to appreciate)
Now, blues is not usually my thing, but being musically minded I can usually apreciate the blues if the musicianship is wicked.
At the risk of speaking ill of the the late Stevie Ray, I don’t like the Texas Flood album…in fact it’s trash.
Once I’ve heard 12 bar blues in more than 2 out of 10 tracks I start to get a little bored.
Worse still this blues album has almost every song is in a “happy” key.
I know this is a critically acclaimed album, but I can’t help but wonder why.
Lets face it, Eddie Van Halen’s work in the self titled “Van Halen” album was far more superior, and 4 years earlier.
Hendrix had mastered the far parameters of the blues 20 years earlier, and the work on Texas Flood doesn’t even come close.
