U2 star Bono revieves Honourary British Knighthood
Irish rock star and rights campaigner Bono, has been awarded an honourary British Knighthood. This honour is in recognition of his services to the music industry and for all the humanitarian work he does.
Bono is said to be very flattered and hopes the honour opens doors for his campaign about the extreme poverty in Africa. Bob Geldolf (also an Irish rocker) recieved the same award, also for human rights in 1986.
British Prime Minister Tony Blair, has said that he is delighted that Bono has accepted this high award. Honourary Knighthoods are awarded to those who are non-British nationals.
