United States proposes idea of more anti-missile radars in Japan
In late December (2006), United States officials put forward the idea of having more anti-missile radars in Japan. These new radars would help intercept weapons from North Korea that could be going to U.S soil.

This radar would also monitor missiles and weapons from North Korea to U.S troops, which are stationed in Japan and South Korea.
The United States currently has one anti-missile radar in the north of Japan, but this failed to pick up the missile tests North Korea conducted in July. This was due to the fact that the radar was only monitoring missiles heading toward U.S soil.
There is a greater need for this new radar now as security worries have mounted since the nuclear missiles tested in July could be a potential threat to the United States and other countries around the world
