My Small Tribute to Ronnie Barker British Comedian Extraordinaire

Ronnie Barker, one of the true great British Comedians Died on October 3 2005.
Barker, whose carrer in entertainment stretched for almost a massive five decades was known for his brilliant wit and hilarious satirical commentry.
Ronnie Barkers last appearance was on the TV show “Life Beyond the Box: Norman Stanley Fletcher” in 2003.
Norman Stanley Fletcher, of course was a character Ronnie Barker played in the 1970’s TV series, and [later] film “Porridge”.
Here’s a classic quote from the film Porridge whilst Fletcher was on “pig duty at the prison farm”:
Ours is not to reason why…. ours is but to clean the sty
Fletcher, imprisoned in Slade Prison for a crime he “did not commit” was famous for his hilarious social commentry.
In Open All Hours, Barker played the tight fisted shop keeper whose love was saving money and pursuit of the beautiful nurse “Gladys Emanuel” [Lynda Baron].
Due mainly to Barker’s comic genius, this series produced enough comedic material for Open All Hours to stretch twelve successful years. - A massive succes for Barker.
