Quake Shakes Auckland

Auckland Airport was closed for part on Wednesday night as the runways had to be checked for earthquake Damage. Three earthquakes hit the Auckland Region on wednesday night.

There was no damage found at Auckland Airport so everything ran as usual. Both the earthquakes were centered in the same place in North Auckland.

It was centred 30km east of Orewa and was 15km deep. A tremor measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale shook the region at 9pm.

a smaller earthquake measuring 3.7 in magnitude, also centred 30km east of Orewa but at a depth 6km, was reported 40minutes earlier than the larger earthquake.

The last earthquake was at approximately 11:23pm, a measuring of 3.8 was reported. It too was centred about 30km east of Orewa, with a depth of 7km.
