My, How The Virginia Tech Campus Massacre Conspiracy Theories Fly
Ahhh… How the conspiracy theorists never sleep. I’ve been waiting for this one to come out, my only surprise is that the blogworld has taken 2-days to produce even a slightly coherent article on this topic.
The topic? The Shootings (Massacre, if you like) at Virginia Tech Campus in Blacksburg.
Godwin should have latched onto this one prior. It was so obvious, and will prove to be abundant in Hyperbole. - This article is a perfect example, describing a “Columbine-style black-op”.
The reasoning? To fulfill the US Governments long standing Nazi-type agenda to increase gun laws in order to restrict regular citizens from bearing arms.
“Ahh… but this is America” I hear you say, what about the second amendment and the principles under which America was founded?
And therein lies the simplest argument to this conspiracy theory.
If the US Government really did have an agenda, and wished to carry it out:
Only a massive nationwide crisis (not 9/11) could ever possibly envoke a Repeal to the Second Ammendment. The “staging” a handful of killings, even 4 or 5 massacres of this nature will not get the majority of Americans calling for a ban (or even further restriction) of firearms for regular folk.
Of course, the obvious usual outcry of “Ban The Guns” inevitably is always expressed by a minority, and represents a more hysterical approach to the problem.
Banning Guns is a ludicrous (and unrealistic) solution, particularly when one considers the policing of such a law. Prohibition on Drugs has not stopped drug use or deaths in America.
Hysterical knee-jerk reactions by way of people, then Parliament usually result in draconian measures.
I wouldn’t be surprised however, if Congress were to legislate to ensure the mentally ill cannot aquire firearms by way of an update the national instant-check background system with mental-health adjudications, which ban firearm purchases.
Particularly as it has been found since, that Seung-Hui Cho had been admitted earlier to a psychiatric hospital and deemed “a danger to himself and others.”
In America, There are more Motor Vehicle Related Deaths than gun related deaths.
Let’s ban all the cars. (And why not? In the last Five Years of War in Iraq, for every 1 soldier that died in Iraq, 70 Americans have died in their cars).
Perhaps, we should ban E-Bay, seeing that the new assumption is that the killer purchased the ammo clips from E-Bay.
Or, seeing as the Virginia Tech Campus Massacre shootings were (allegedly) committed, by an Asian - then let’s ban all the Asians!
Ok, so an equally stupid suggestion, but you get the idea.
Guns are here to stay, and probably for the better. (Hey, sure it would be great to not have any guns, bombs etc… but most of us prefer to live in reality)
I for one certainly don’t want to live in a society where only the criminals and the Police have firearms.
Check out this video “The Day they Kicked God Out of The Schools“, whilst a religous message of kind (don’t freak out), it perfectly summarises the way our society has spawned some of the problems we now see.
