The world is changing….. The old tradition in business (Gosh, I’m such a conservative) with regard to charity was:

The business owners understood that charity was a necessary part of their society, and a sucessful business would invest into the community through local charitable organisations, and see the benefits in the community.

Nowadays, charitable organisations are everywhere (One of my businesses gets at least 1 call per day!) and the organisations have grown so large that a huge percentage of the charitable donations are needed just to suport the administration. 

Fewer and fewer charitable organisations are local because they’ve had to compete against the big organisations.

This means less and less money making it into the local community, and therefore leaving business no incentive to “invest”.

Charity has become an Industry - and it makes me sick.

Personally, I’m tired of getting endless calls from people asking for charitable donations - all with the same ruse of, “hey, it’s tax deductable, so you can afford it”.

 Charitable organisations, are sucking up the charity dollars to pay for their ridiculously top-heavy structures AND It’s getting harder & harder to see the local benefits of charity.

It’s no wonder that larger businesses have set up their own charities to ensure the funds donated actually end up to those whom it was intended.
