After a previous post today,  I was searching for latest news on the Bali Nine.  It seems that the story has left the media, and, considering the situation I think that totally sucks ass!

The media have the ability (and possibly a responsibilty) to alert the public to those who are in the most dire of circumstances. 

Worse, the media seem to benefit from those in dire circumstances when the story is new, but don’t see any real beneft in reporting the story once it gets “tired”.

Sadly, the next time the media report on the Bali Nine in detail will be if the death sentence is carried out.

I found this story  dated in June 16th, 2007 which is some of the latest news on the subject.

The story is about the Balinese Authorities Incinerating the evidence (Presumably the Herion etc.) on 15th June, 2007 in the carpark at the District Prosecutor’s office in Denpasar, Bali.

This evidence was destroyed despite appeals still pending.

“The evidence has been destroyed because we’ve had a decision from the Supreme Court,” Denpasar chief prosecutor Made Suryatmaja said. “So there is already complete legal authority there. As for those who are still appealing, we’ve destroyed that evidence too.”

The evidence being destroyed is significant because it basically denies any further probe, or question into the case. 

As far as the Authorities are concerned, the sentences passed down upon the Australians are final.
