NZ Votes, 2008 : The Writing Is On The Wall
Indeed, everyone seems to be a political expert at election time - and opinions are more common than, well… politicians, shall we say?
Nonetheless, I shall offer my 2 cents and share the way this election will really pan out.
In fact the writing has been on the wall for a number of weeks, and certainly for longer than last week when the Greens finally “revealed” their desired partnership. Surprise, surprise.
In this MMP environment it’s simply a matter of who has the most friends.
If we look at possible partnerships within the parties, the outcome to November’s election is staring us in the face.
The Greens, wont work with National. National won’t work with Winnie. Act will be a potential partner for National. Likewise Winnie and the Greens for Labour.
Sounds like a budget IQ test, right?
After the last Election, Labour formed a coalition government with the Progressive Party, obtained confidence and supply agreements with United Future and NZ First, and a support agreement through negotiations with the Green Party.
There are eight Major parties, [Greens, National, Labour, United Future, Act, NZ First, Maori, Progressives],
Labour looks to have support from (including Labour & National) five of them, leaving National with Act as the only major party to form a coalition with.
The outcome?
A fourth term Labour government.
The Nats seriously shot themselves in the foot with the “Won’t work with Winnie” thing.
Winnie, of course will have the last laugh.
WOW Could I have been any more wrong??? Who would have guessed the Nats would get in on their own. Boy is my face red (I mean blue)
