In-Car Global Positoning Systems To Reduce Traffic Flow?
GPS. Global Positioning Systems are way cool. Every day my in car GPS saves me time and money - and most impotantly, frustration.
Having to meet clients regularly, I’m always off to different addresses. Seeing as my car is also my second office, the GPS allows me to program an address, then follow the instructions to get to the destination.
It’s so easy that talking on the mobile phone whilst driving is a breeze, as is texting or drinking a coffee!
So, I’m driving the other day (yes, texting and talking, and drinking coffee…) and I’m thinking about how GPS could help ease traffic congestion in the future.
If every car had a GPS unit that was connected to a central processing bank (control).
The Control could collate the data of all the traffic in different areas, and actually plot some traffic via alternate routes depending on the traffic flows.
YES. Big brother stuff. Have a computer knowing where all cars are, all the time. Accessing traffic flows, and providing optimal GPS routes to ease traffic flow from heavy areas….
