Google Adsense. The program by which participants are paid to display Ads by Google on their respective websites.  

When the idea was first pitched to me by Hone Watson, I was immediately sceptical!

My assumption, was simply that the participant would go to a huge effort to display Google Ads, and get paid peanuts for doing so. 

And, as I refused to try the system on any of my business websites, I created a personal website to test the idea (and to humour Mr. Watson).

The assumption was soon confirmed when I got the website up and running and checked the Adense account after a few days.  

39 cents on average per day. 

Hone was right about one thing…. at least it was passive….

In any case, I pursued this project. 

Partly because I enjoyed finding stuff I wrote about in the search engines, but more importantly, I was intrigued…..

What if I could get more vistors to the website, and make more money? 

Of course it would have to be a shitload more visitors to make a real difference - but what if?

Being a busy person (as is everyone), I didn’t want to spend loads of time on this project. 

All I could afford was roughly 15 mins per day, at best.

15 minutes it became.

Once I’d had a bit of practice, I could easily post three different articles in 15-minutes, which according to Hone Watson is a great start.

Anyway, 18 months or so down the track I’ve reached a milestone. 

The ridiculous “snowball” metaphor that  Hone Watson uses to describe the effect of this project has become clear.

The Milestone?

My Google adsense account is now averaging me roughly:

 US $100 per week and climbing.

OK, so $100 is nothing to write home about.

But $100 per week, for doing naff-all is pretty cool.

Better still this amount continues to grow, and some months now I don’t do a single article in my website.

The reason for this article?

Well, certainly not to disclose my personal financial details!

(Let’s hope the IRD doesn’t read this)

The reason is simple…… it’s another long term money making investment!

Better still, I could double my earnings simply by getting a 6% Click Through Rate (CTR) over the current 3% CTR. 

Not bad after only 18 months of bugger-all work!  AND it’s only ONE website.
