New Zealand, The Island Paradise At The Bottom Of The World. Clean, Green, Anti GM, And No Nukes. What Is It Like For The “Average” Kiwi?
New Zealand is often viewed by the rest of the world an island paradise. Clean Air, Cheap Land, No nuclear power - hell, New Zealand won’t even let in Nuclear powered vessels into the country. ( This issue will be bagged in a later blog!).
Anyway, if you ask the average Kiwi how great the country is, you’ll probably be rather surprised.
So, what’s wong with new Zealand?
New Zealand incomes are taxed at some of the highest rates in the OECD Petrol Tax, Goods and Service Tax of course are in addition to this. The average Kwi earner pays huge amounts of tax to a government who allow 15% of the workforce to be on a social welfare benefit.
There seems to be no incentive for people to take responsibility for themselves, in a Politically Correct environment that pays more attention to an offender of a crime than to the victim.
New Zealand has lost faith in the Police Force. This is a Police force that is under-staffed to the point where they cannot respond to emergency 111 calls but spends a large percentage of Police Officers daily time performing road duties, and issuing infringements.
Prison Sentences are far too lenient, and the present Government doesn’t want tobuild more prisons. You see as far as the incumbent Government is concerned, it’s not actually the criminals fault… Instead we need to focuss on understanding why people offend, and accept it as society’s responsibility - Yea Right!
Immigration laws are inconsistent. Ask any American or British resident that has tried to settle in New Zealand. The country seems to have very strict regulations for citizens of these countries, however seems to have no worries issuing residency to questionable people from countries like Algeria for example. See Ahmed Zaoui.
To be continued…
P.S New Zealand has some lovely scenery!
