Officials in Venezuela Worried About A Potential Radiation Hazard
A Truck containing a capsule of highly radioactive material was stolen in Venezuela on Sunday.
Civil Defence have said they “have a state of state of emergency at a national and regional level and are looking for the capsule everywhere”.
The capsule is about the size of a lunchbox and contains Iridium-192, a substance that emits powerful gamma radiation.
Worse still, this is not the first instance of this type of dangerous going missing. Reports earlier this year of a canister of Iridium-192 “falling off the back of a truck”
