Three Of The Bali Nine Death Sentences Quashed

Matthew Norman, Thanh Duc Tan Nguyen and Si Yi Chen, have had their death sentences commuted to life in prison.

These guys must have breathed a sigh of relief when the Indonesian Supreme Court handed down the new decision, from a new panel of judges.

A life sentence must still be a daunting thought, however this has got to be a ray of hope for Scot Rush, who has yet to have his final appeal heard.

Public Won’t Be Told In Advance Of Any Executions Of The Bali Nine

The Bali Nine, What Is The Latest News?

Thought I would blog this simply from the point of view that we don’t want people in this situation to be forgotten about. 

In February 2006 the Bali Nine ( Nine Australians arrested in Bali for possesion of Herion), were handed down the expected stiff sentences under Balinese law.

Two of them, Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran, were sentenced to death by firing squad.

Subsequently after losing appeals, Scott Rush, Mathew Norman, Si Yi Chen, and Tan Duc Thanh had death sentences imposed. Read more about…

A Ray Of Hope For Schapelle Corby, And Bali Nine.

It looks as though Australia and Indonesia are on the eve of signing a prisoner exchange deal.

Whilst the deal is not yet formal, Ministers from both countries agreed on the comprehensive exchange deal at talks in Bali recently.

The deal is sheduled to be signed this September.

Haposan Sihombing, the lawyer for Corby and Bali Nine drug mule Renae Lawrence, said his clients will be “very happy” with the agreement.

“I can assure you that Schapelle and Renae will apply very soon, because their prison is not convenient for foreigners,” he told AAP.
